CONVENTIONS OF BRITISH FILM:
- It usually focused on working class people
- Shows struggle of day-to-day life
- Characters normally have a twist to them
- It is "gritty" --> urban, edgy, specific
- Location usually focused on - industrial, run down
- Diegetic sounds used to show reality
- Mostly deals with sensitive issues e.g. drugs, alcohol, racism, sexism, prostitution etc.
- The endings are not normally happy and leaves audience wanting to know more
- Typically located in major cities - poverty
- Iconic British actors: Vinnie Jones, Ewan McGregor, Ray Winston, Michael Kane, Danny Dyer
- British Film examples: This is England, Fish Tank, Trainspotting, Football Factory
